Why did my taxes go up, property value increase or exemptions drop?

The Property Appraiser establishes the value of your property and determines whether or not you are eligible for any exemption's including but not limited to Homestead. His office also computes the tax. In August, three months before you receive the bill from the Tax Collector the Property Appraiser sends you the "Truth in Millage (TRIM) Notice", in that notice he explains how you can protest values.
